ND loves manufacturing!

The industry accounts for 7.3% of the state’s GDP. Over 27,000 North Dakotans are employed in the industry – that’s 6.8% of the workforce. Every manufacturing job looks different, just like each worker’s background looks different too. Technology and innovation have changed how workers are attracted, retained, and trained in this sector. Each job is important to each business and the success of our state.


Impact Dakota and GNDC teamed up to spotlight this workforce.
 

WHO SHOULD BE NOMINATED:

Someone that works in the manufacturing industry. Manufacturing is no longer just grease and wrenches. It looks different today than when our grandfathers got the job done. There is still welding and wrenches but now innovation has been introduced but the face of manufacturing has changed.

 

Nominate your operators, machinists, HR specialists, R&D, welders, engineers, painters, the field isn’t limited and we think they all should be nominated.

 

WHAT WILL HAPPEN NEXT:

Applications will be reviewed, and winners selected. We are excited to showcase real work being done in North Dakota, individuals getting the job done. Winners will be individually showcased each week; beginning in August. We will ask them for a headshot to help tell their story. In addition, we they will be recognized at celebration event and luncheon on October 10th in Bismarck.

 

OUR GOAL:

Celebrate the workforce of North Dakota Manufacturing while showcasing the potential in this industry and highlight the diversity in positions.

 

DEADLINE:

Nomination Deadline is June 20, 2025.

January 1 - June 20: Nomination Period
August 1: Announcement of Winners
August 6 - October 8: Spotlights of Winners
October 3: Manufacturing Day
October 10: Faces of Manufacturing Event & Luncheon - Bismarck, ND

 

To help introduce the manufacturing industry and inspire tomorrow's workforce to explore its exciting opportunities, we developed two resources that manufacturers and CTE centers can incorporate into their toolkit.

  • MFG Sheet: we asked Faces of MFG spotlights “What would you say to students who may not be considering manufacturing as a potential career option?” This sheet is a compilation of the answers. 
     
  • DIY Sheet: this sheet is specifically for manufacturers. It look likes the other sheet BUT there is a space to customize! Add their link and a QR code to a company page to promote their careers and opportunities.
