An Impact Dakota Seminar
Production Planning and Scheduling, Challenges and Improvement Opportunities

Impact Dakota is presenting this half-day learning opportunity that is developed to further its services to manufacturing clients helping them to improve their production and operations.

Effective production planning (and scheduling) is a process that covers a wide variety of activities to ensure that materials, equipment and human resources are available when and where they are needed to meet customer demand.   Production planning is part of a larger, more complex system and should effectively interact with many departments within the system so it can provide information that is needed for planning and execution of production.

This seminar presents a macro-level approach to production subsystems and practical considerations for production planning and scheduling.  Impacts of product volume and variety are discussed and the relationships to production systems and communications requirements are emphasized.  Some of the tools and techniques that can help to better address production planning challenges are also addressed.

The following is a partial listing of topics covered during this seminar:
  • Overview of Production Systems and Production Scheduling
  • Role of Communication and Understanding of Processes
  • Improving Productivity Through Identification and Elimination of Non-value Added Activities
  • Impact of Product Volume and Variety on Production Scheduling
  • Process Choice and Lean Building Blocks for Managing Production and Operations
  • Achieving Advantages of High-Volume Production
